Steve CookeSteve began his professional career as a classical musician playing with The Academy of the BBC in Bristol and The BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in Glasgow. He later worked with other orchestras including the Birmingham and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestras and English National Opera. Other classical work included West End shows, ballet and studio work.

He then moved away from the orchestral field, touring with Trevor Watts’ progressive jazz group Moire Music. He was a member of both folk rock band Better Days and the acoustic duo Rogues in Rosin touring with Steeleye Span and Christy Moore.

Steve worked for several years with composer and musician Kenny Craddock and, along with singer songwriter Andy Winfield, they formed The Liars, an R&B band.

He has also worked and recorded with, among others, Lindisfarne, Alan Hull and Barry Dransfield, and has performed on T.V., film and radio.

As well as playing, he has composed, arranged and transcribed music for performance, recording
and publication.
