GarryFolk CD keeps it in the family

AN ALBUM featuring a selection of folk music is beinglaunched to coincide with this year's Jack In the Green celebrations .

transparent gifThe compilation has been a long-time project for Hastings- based multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Garry Blakeley.
transparent gifWith reference to films such as Morris: A Life With Bells On and The Wicker Man and the pioneering albums Morris On, Rattlebone and Ploughjack and The Complete Dancing Master, the project has been enhanced by keepIng it something of a 'family affair', with poems and songs by wife Rose, and additional instrumentation and orchestral arrangement by Garry's son Edd , who is studying world and popular music at Leeds Univesity.
transparent gifJoined by the redolent tones of Hastings-based narrator Jane Downes listeners will appreciate how everything has been kept 'close to home' .
transparent gifAs well as 20 years performing professionally with Pete Fyfe in the CeItic music duo Band Of Two , Garry is also a member of the acclaimed Feast Of Fiddles (including members of Steeleye Span , Fairport Convention and Show Of Hands) and is united on this recording by the distinctive sound of Feast Of Fiddles ilIustrious arranger Hugh Crabtree on melodeon .
