CLUSTERS OF THE BELTANE BUD

(Chorus: repeat before each verse)
Clusters of the Beltane bud adorn each darkened door,
Oh the wreath of May, it does adorn
Each doorway here once more!

(Verses)
Upon this early hour of day, folk from their beds do leap,
And together to the hill they go, as the great sun quietly sleeps.
As nearer and nearer they do get, the children start to run
With pretty posies in their hands, eager to join the fun.

The air it is a-rumbling with the drummers’ endless beat,
And the Morris clad in boots and bells are now up upon their feet.
Now, upon the Parlour’s edge, over looking a hushing sea,
The bogies of the green, they huddle together now with glee.

Louder the drums a-rumble, as all embrace the first of spring,
And held high is the antler from the stave, as the ribbons loose do swing.
All embrace the first of spring, as the black clouds now unfold,
And upon this early hour of day, we acknowledge the ways of old!
